John M. Rafferty joined Vision Loss Rehabilitation Canada in 2019 as the organization’s inaugural president and CEO, and the driving force behind its creation. John is also the president and CEO of Vision Loss Rehabilitation Canada's two affiliate organizations, the CNIB Foundation and CNIB Deafblind Community Services. He is a member of the C.D. Howe Institute’s Health Policy Council, serves on the Board of Directors for Accessible Media Inc., and is the Chair of Vision 2020 Canada. In 2012, he earned the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal, which honours significant contributions and achievements by Canadians to their community. John came to Vision Loss Rehabilitation Canada with more than 30 years of experience in both the for- and non-profit sectors, which he gained through years of living and working abroad. Born, raised and educated in England, John has held leadership roles with Dun and Bradstreet Canada, Verizon Information Services, where he was posted to Canada, the UK, Poland and China, as well as British Telecom.
